Sleep Dentistry

Some children need more than patience to feel comfortable in the dental chair. Sleep dentistry — using conscious sedation — allows anxious children and those with complex needs to receive complete dental care in a calm, safe and controlled environment.

Sleep Dentistry
What Sets This Apart

A dedicated Conscious Sedation Unit

Most dental clinics do not offer conscious sedation. Care & Cure has a purpose-built unit — not a makeshift setup — with the clinical equipment, protocols and certified expertise to do this safely.

Certified Practitioner

Dr. Bhuvanesswari holds a specialist certification in conscious sedation and sleep dentistry — one of very few paediatric dentists in Chennai with this qualification.

Purpose-Built Unit

The clinic has a dedicated Conscious Sedation Unit with the clinical monitoring equipment required to administer sedation safely — not a general treatment room adapted for the purpose.

Full Clinical Monitoring

Patients are continuously monitored throughout the procedure. The team follows strict sedation protocols and the patient is observed closely through recovery before going home.

What's Included

Treatments & procedures

Click any treatment to see when it's recommended. Every option is explained clearly before we proceed.

Pre-Sedation Consultation

A thorough medical history review, fasting assessment and parent briefing to confirm that sedation is clinically appropriate and to plan the procedure safely before the appointment.

Conscious Sedation Administration

A safe, clinically titrated sedative agent is administered in our purpose-built Conscious Sedation Unit. The child remains conscious and breathing independently but is deeply relaxed and comfortable throughout.

Full Dental Treatment in One Visit

With the child comfortably sedated, all required dental treatment — fillings, extractions, pulpectomies, crowns — is completed efficiently and thoroughly in a single session.

Continuous Clinical Monitoring

Heart rate, oxygen saturation and respiratory rate are monitored continuously using dedicated clinical equipment throughout the procedure and recovery — standard protocol in our Conscious Sedation Unit.

Post-Sedation Recovery

The child is observed closely in a designated recovery area until all clinical discharge criteria are met. Parents receive detailed written and verbal aftercare instructions before leaving the clinic.

Signs this treatment may be right for you

  • Extreme dental anxiety or phobia that prevents treatment
  • Previous traumatic dental experiences
  • Extensive treatment required in a single visit
  • Sensory processing difficulties or special healthcare needs
  • Inability to cooperate despite a gentle, patient approach
  • Complex procedures requiring complete stillness

Why this treatment matters

Dental anxiety in children is real and significant. For some children, the standard approach — however patient and gentle — is not enough. Conscious sedation allows the child to receive the dental care they need without trauma, building a foundation for healthier dental experiences in the future. Dr. Bhuvanesswari is a certified sleep dentistry practitioner with a dedicated Conscious Sedation Unit at the clinic.

What to expect at your appointment

Throughout the procedure, your child is continuously monitored using clinical equipment. Dr. Bhuvanesswari's dedicated Conscious Sedation Unit is purpose-equipped for this service. Your child will not feel pain or distress, and most children have little to no memory of the procedure.
